 Healthy Living: CDSMP (Chronic Disease Self-Management Program)

For those who are living with a chronic illness, or caring for someone with a chronic illness, this workshop will provide opportunities for you to find ways to manage symptoms and take back control of your life. A chronic condition is one that is on-going and affects the quality of your life, including, but not limited to diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, asthma, etc. Through interactive discussions, brainstorming, and action plans, participants will learn how to deal with difficult emotions, set goals, improve nutrition and fitness, and make informed treatment decisions. 

What:
Six weekly 2 ½ hour sessions. You have an option to purchase the textbook and relaxation CD. Otherwise, materials will be loaned to you for the duration of the course for a deposit of $15.To date, SEAGO AAA has offered one workshop with 14 completers and three more workshops are in the process of being scheduled (one in Willcox, one in Safford, and one in Bisbee). 

Where: SEAGO AAA covers Cochise, Graham, Greenlee & Santa Cruz counties, and our workshops can be held in a variety of venues including senior centers, churches, health centers, and retirement communities. If your organization has a group of 12 or more interested in participating, we can come to you.

A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns about Falls

Participants have stated that this program provides a great opportunity to share and learn about ways to be more in control of their environment and their bodies. Through discussions, brainstorming, action plans and exercise, older adults can learn to view falls as controllable. They also learn about the role of assertiveness in fall preventions and the role of exercise to increase strength and balance.


What: Eight weekly 2-hour classes. There is no cost for this workshop. Schedules are set up once we have a minimum of 8 interested participants. To date, SEAGO AAA has offered nine workshops to 101 participants. 


Where: SEAGO AAA covers Cochise, Graham, Greenlee & Santa Cruz counties, and our workshops have been held in a variety of venues including senior centers, churches, health centers, and retirement communities.
